Crypto exchanges need to establish who is creating an account before customers can access trading and other financial services. That task is becoming more difficult as generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) makes realistic synthetic faces, manipulated video, and fabricated identity materials easier to produce.

Deepfake fraud creates a particular challenge during remote account creation because the exchange and customer never meet in person. Building a Stronger Trust Layer at Crypto Signup

AI-generated identity attacks have changed what crypto exchanges need to establish during account creation. A document and matching facial image can provide useful evidence, but neither alone confirms that a genuine person is participating in the verification process.

Liveness detection helps establish that missing element by verifying real human presence. Combined with document verification, facial matching, deepfake detection, and protection against injected media, it creates a stronger trust layer around crypto onboarding.

The business objective is not to make account creation more complicated. It is to distinguish legitimate customers from synthetic and manipulated identities early enough to stop fraudulent accounts while preserving a fast, frictionless onboarding experience for genuine users.
