Are you ready for another dazzling season on the Great White Way? Broadway has an incredible lineup of new musicals and plays heading our way in the 2024-2025 season.
As a huge theater fan, I can’t wait to see what’s in store! Here are some of the most anticipated shows I’m looking forward to:
New Musicals
Maybe Happy Ending
This new sci-fi musical about two robots developing a relationship premiered to acclaim in South Korea and Atlanta. It’s now coming to Broadway’s Belasco Theatre this fall, starring Darren Criss, Helen J Shen, and Dez Duron. With music and lyrics by Will Aronson and Hue Park, this unique love story is sure to be a must-see.
Once Upon a Mattress
Sutton Foster and Michael Urie will lead a new Broadway production of this beloved fairy tale musical at the Hudson Theatre. Amy Sherman-Palladino (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) has adapted the book for this limited engagement. I grew up loving the TV movie with Carol Burnett, so I’m excited to see this classic come to life on stage again.
Sunset Boulevard
After a hit run in London, this acclaimed revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical based on the classic film is finally coming to Broadway.
Pop star Nicole Scherzinger will make her Broadway debut as faded silent film star Norma Desmond. The lush romantic score is one of Lloyd Webber’s best.
New Plays
McNeal
Two-time Oscar winner Robert Downey Jr. will make his Broadway debut in this new play by Pulitzer winner Ayad Akhtar at Lincoln Center. Downey Jr. will play a famous writer with an unhealthy fascination with AI. With Bartlett Sher directing, this is sure to be a gripping and timely drama.
Our Town
Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer-winning American classic is returning to Broadway for the first time in over twenty years. Kenny Leon directs an all-star cast that includes Jim Parsons, Zoey Deutch, Katie Holmes, and Richard Thomas. This simple yet profound story is always worth revisiting.
Romeo and Juliet
Rising young stars Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler will play the iconic star-crossed lovers in this new revival staged by Sam Gold. Shakespeare’s romantic tragedy is eternally relevant, and I’m curious to see Gold’s fresh take on it.
In addition to seeing great shows, I also need to check stationary oxygen concentrators at MainClinicSupply for my grandma, who uses supplemental oxygen. It’s important to have the proper medical equipment to stay healthy and enjoy life to the fullest, including going to the theater!
